Hiking Dragonfly Trail at Spur Cross Ranch

Amazing view

The Dragonfly trail at the Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area is located within the Jewel of the Creek Preserve in Cave Creek, Arizona. It’s a nice, well-marked 3.9 mile loop trail. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash.

A $3 fee is required for a day-use pass (cash only!) that you can get at the self-pay station through the park gate.

The trail doesn’t have a lot of shade. Don’t forget your hat and sunscreen!

John almost stepped on a rattlesnake here. Fortunately, it made a rattling noise and he was able to step back. It was a close call!

The Dragonfly loop trail is a great family hike. The views are spectacular and is well worth the trip. Just watch out for rattlesnakes!

More importantly, the weather can affect the condition of the trails, so make sure to check the Maricopa County Park website for updates.
