Simon’s Hot Dogs Colombian Style Hotdog in Arizona

SIMON'S HOT DOGS

In our quest to try something new for our Friday dinner, we ended up at Simon’s Hot Dogs.

It’s tucked away in

Store front

Simon’s Hot Dogs offer a unique variety of hot dogs. They sell beef, pork, and vegan hot dogs as well as burgers and sandwiches. Don’t get me started on the toppings. It’s pretty overwhelming for an indecisive person like me. I want to try them all!

How to order:

The first thing you have to do is choose the style or the kind of toppings you want on your hot dog. Second, choose the meat. It’s pretty straightforward.

What we ordered:

Of course, we had to try the classic first: their Colombian-style hotdog with Colombian Chorizo.

A Colombian-style hot dog includes pineapples, Simon’s sauce, cheese, and crushed potato chips. The owners of this joint migrated from Colombia so you can bet it’s authentic. I imagine this would also be great with the beef hot dog.

The Sonoran Cousin, refried beans, onion, mustard, Simon’s sauce, topped with bacon and jalapenos and a side of chili cheese fries.

They have a variety of Colombian sodas to choose from as well. I had one that doesn’t just have low sodium but VERY LOW sodium which I thought was amusing. It’s got an interesting taste.

For dessert, we took these Colombian cookies called alfajores. It’s a cookie sandwich with a sugary filling. The texture reminds me of a snickerdoodle just drier.

Alfajores

Overall, it was a pretty good dinner. They have vegan-friendly options and based on the reviews I read online, people seem to like them. If you’re looking for some cheap eats with a wide-selection, Simon’s Hot Dogs is a good place to go.
