Asian supermarkets are one of the first things immigrants always look for in their new home country. I mean, we gotta get our grub on! It’s the best place to find anything that will remind us of home. Fortunately, Arizona has a good number of Asian supermarkets that offer a variety of ethnic items from different origins like the Philippines, Mexico, Africa, Europe, etc.
Here are my favorites:
1. Mekong Supermarket
It’s located in the Mekong Plaza, a strip mall with lots of restaurant options. This place has good fresh seafood. If I’m not mistaken, fresh stock arrives on Saturdays or close to the weekend. Be warned. The parking lot can be a mess during the weekends so after lunch is the best time to go.

2. AZ International Supermarket
Opened in 2016, it’s owned by the same people who own Mekong Supermarket. It has a bigger parking lot and based on my observations, has a wider variety of ethnic items than their counterpart next door.

3. Lee Lee International Supermarket
Lee Lee or as we like to call it, Lee Lee’s has some good meat options. They recently added more items from Europe as well.
