Filipinos love corned beef. It’s cheap and easy to prepare. Just open up a can, saute it in a pan with some onions, and put it on top of a bowl of rice and you’re good. I love corned beef, and I like Purefoods corned beef the best. Unfortunately, it’s not available here in the US so I have to find a good substitute. Enter, Tropics Corned Beef.
Tropics Corned Beef
I saw it at Mekong Supermarket, an Asian store in Mesa, Arizona. It’s a dollar cheaper than Palm Corned Beef which is the brand that I usually get.
This is what it looks like. It’s a bit like mush than strands.
I chopped some onions. You can also add potatoes if you like. I wasn’t in the mood to peel potatoes, so, this will do.
Add the corned beef.
Voila! Easy breakfast, lunch, or dinner! You can even top it with a fried egg too.
Food Rating: 7/10
Overall, it’s okay. I’m not a fan of the mushy texture. It’s cheaper than the other brands so if budget is an issue Tropics Corned Beef is a good option.
